A theme in today’s passage is the unbelief of Israel as Stephen makes a passsionate address before the council.
Several “firsts” occur throughout the passage beginning with the first martyr, Stephen himself, and the first mention of Paul (Saul).
The persecutions intensify and the church is scattered. God uses persecution to move people around–sometimes he moves us out of our comfort zone. Another first in the passage: The first missonaries “Therefore they were scattered and went every where preaching the word.”
