As the Old Testament comes to a close and we enter the so-called 400 “years of silence” God is far from silent. The world throughout those years will be prepared for the advent of the Child to be born, prophesied from the beginning (Genesis 3:15)–born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14). Yes, God is coming to earth. Immanuel. The government will be upon His shoulder. He is coming! Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). The Lord is coming!

Malachi bridges the two testaments with references to two key prophets: John the Baptist (3:1), who introduces the first coming of Jesus Christ, and Elijah, who will introduce Christ’s second coming (4:5-6).

Jesus Christ will return!

“And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, He is coming, says the LORD of hosts.”

The day is coming. The Sun of Righteousness shall arise (4:2). And who can stand when He appears?

    • Great question. Today, the area of Edom is part of southern Jordan. Have you heard of the city of Petra (also Bozrah)? That area is formerly Edom. Carol and I were there in 2015. There isn’t much there today…perhaps that is God’s doing?
